Thanos Hotels & Resorts is currently seeking to recruit a
Chief Engineer for the
Palm Beach Resort. Position OverviewThe role of Chief Engineer is critical during both the pre-opening and operational phases of the hotel.
During the pre-opening phase, the Chief Engineer will lead all technical, mechanical, electrical, and structural preparations of the property. He will be fully responsible for the management and supervision of all subcontractors involved in pre-opening works, ensuring that all systems and installations meet the resort’s quality, safety, and operational standards. The role requires close collaboration with ownership, project teams, and the Hotel Manager.
Upon opening, the Chief Engineer will oversee the day-to-day engineering operations of the property, ensuring the efficient functioning of all facilities and systems while leading a high-performing engineering team.
Responsibilities Pre-Opening Phase- Oversee and coordinate all engineering-related pre-opening activities for the resort.
- Manage, evaluate, and supervise subcontractors and external vendors performing technical, mechanical, electrical, and maintenance works.
- Ensure all pre-opening works comply with technical specifications, safety standards, and local regulations.
- Maintain detailed progress reports and provide regular updates to ownership and the General Manager.
- Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and handover procedures for all technical installations.
- Prepare pre-opening budgets, engineering equipment requirements, and operational planning for the Engineering Department.
- Establish maintenance protocols, safety procedures, and operational workflows for the post-opening phase.
- Coordinate the testing, commissioning, and handover of all building systems, including electrical, plumbing, fire safety, elevators, etc
- Interview, train, and prepare the engineering team for the hotel’s opening.
Operational Phase (Post-Opening)- Manage all engineering operations, maintenance activities, and technical support for the resort.
- Ensure proper upkeep, preventive maintenance, and repair of all equipment, machinery, and building infrastructure.
- Supervise and develop the engineering team, promoting a culture of safety, efficiency, and service excellence.
- Coordinate energy conservation initiatives and implement sustainability practices.
- Respond promptly to guest and operational maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
- Oversee compliance with health, safety, environmental, and fire safety regulations.
- Manage engineering budget, procurement of spare parts, and contractor relationships.
- Prepare regular technical reports for the Hotel Manager.
Requirements- A minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services / Facilities Engineering or related technical field.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Greek is considered an asset.
- Proven leadership and team management skills, overseeing preventive maintenance, renovations, and daily engineering operations.
- Experience in pre-opening hotel projects will be considered an advantage.
